From cattle farm to horse boarding

The transition began in 1999. Josef Schuster took over the agricultural business from his parents and converted the former cattle farm into horse boarding stables. As a trained farmer he had previously gained experience working at various horse facilities, where his bosses were always very pleased with him. The basis for independence was established.

Planned long-term project

The conversion of the farm was a long-term project involving a great deal of planning and clever investment. In 2000 the first horses moved into the facility. In 2004 the indoor arena was built. This was already designed and constructed for a possible extension. The lungeing arena followed in 2010. The equestrian centre was always running at maximum capacity, which was the main motivation for continuous expansion. This year he once again really got to grips with the conversion. Twenty additional horse stalls were built and the indoor arena was extended from 40 to 60 metres.

Home for recreational riders

“I wanted to create something really good," comments Josef Schuster. He added that after the conversion, even boarding horse owners were able to return. All the stalls are now are rented again.

At the Pferdeparadies Harthof, especially ambitious recreational riders will feel at home. Various riding instructors support the horse owners in their equestrian training and also in training their horses. Riding award courses are also held at the facility. The conditions for horses and riders are ideal. Generous pastures ensure that the horses are happy and great surrounding countryside for riding keeps the riders happy too.

Quality horse husbandry

Two full-time employees see to feeding the horses and taking care of the stalls and the outdoor facilities. And the boss, supported by his girlfriend, also helps out himself. This means that the 62 horses at the Harthof are always well looked after. High-quality horse management is important to Josef Schuster. For this reason he also takes care of producing the hay for the horses entrusted to him himself. In this way, quality is always guaranteed.

When asked how he managed to get his additional stalls rented out in such a short time, Josef Schuster has an amazingly simple answer: “Word-of-mouth advertising is the best advertising, and we also had a long waiting list which we were able to work through.”
