WESTERN RIDING STABLES WITH FLAIR

The Eder family is building a stable with a fabulous ambience.

Sabine and Josef Eder have created a paradise for Western riding fans in Tuntenhausen in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim. There is room for 54 horses in the spacious horse stables built in the shape of a horseshoe.

The Eders’ passion is to make both the horse and the rider feel at home at the Grand River Ranch - and this does not only apply to friends of Western sports. Around 30 Western horses are accommodated at the facility, but also English riders and the mounted police of Rosenheim have found a new riding home here with their horses.

There are regular reining and working equitation courses on offer at the Grand River Ranch. Sabine Eder comments, "The working equitation courses are very well received by all our riders. These courses are equally good for Western and warmblood horses." At the moment the ranch is being extended by an extreme mountain trail site. This is a trend that has spread to Europe from the United States. On these trails horses and riders learn to move safely through difficult terrain.

There is naturally also a stylish Western saloon. The log cabin is a popular meeting place for the Grand River riding community.

The riding facility is situated in the middle of a rural idyll and is surrounded by pastures and great countryside for riding. For Sabine Eder, it is much more important that the horses feel happy and are in balance than any sporting success at tournaments. This is best achieved with long rides through the beautiful natural landscape. She tells us about a horse she obtained eight years ago from the USA. “He was great at tournaments, but was only familiar with the stables and tournament circuits. Now he finally ventures out into the terrain without fear and has his regained his basic confidence. That makes me feel very happy and proud," she adds.
