ROUND HORSE STABLE
Bargteheide // Germany
An all-round success - Christian Schröder and his partner Anna Sievers have built very unusual horse stables in Bargteheide in Schleswig-Holstein.
Eleven brood mares have now moved into the stalls of the round stable. This shape creates a special, airy atmosphere.
Thirty years ago the fully qualified groom and show-jumper started breeding Holsteiner horses together with his father, and he has been fascinated by them ever since. “Once you have caught the bug, you can’t get rid of it,” laughs 47-year-old Christian.
Today there are 60 horses at his new facility in Schleswig-Holstein. Sixteen foals are expected this year. Eight have already arrived and Christian Schröder is satisfied with the year so far.
The Sievers-Schröder team is in the lucky position of being able to train their own offspring. The horses are sometimes ridden up to class M and only then sold. Although this is a lot of work, it also ensures that the horses that are bred at the farm are prepared very carefully for the sport or auctions. This is a concept that works - and now in special and unique surroundings.
There is naturally also a classic horse stable, as 60 horses take up a little more space. Christian Schröder and his partner have also made sure that these are particularly light, airy and generously dimensioned. A lungeing arena, a residential house and naturally meadows round off the ensemble.
Lars Cordes, client advisor at Röwer & Rüb, also believes that the investment in Bargteheide is something special: “Building a round horse stable is a great idea and looks really good.”
