A dream comes true
for Martina Hingis
Horses have always played a role in the life of the tennis player Martina Hingis. Now she has fulfilled her long-cherished dream of having her own horse stables. Martina Hingis has been in the saddle since childhood. However, she decided to follow a career in tennis. For 209 weeks she was world number one in singles, won five Grand Slam singles titles, 13 doubles Grand Slam titles and seven in mixed. The WTA named her Player of the Year, Doubles Team of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year. This exceptionally talented player entered her first tournament at the age of four.
Since her retirement as a tennis professional, Martina Hingis has had more time to devote to her second passion, equestrian sports. Riding has always been her hobby throughout her tennis career and was a welcome change and relaxation away from her strenuous life as a top athlete. She is also ambitious in equestrian sports, but never wanted it to be anything other than a hobby. She enters her horses at regional jumping competitions and is happy when she can ride at the front. However, she doesn’t miss want to miss out on enjoyable rides in the countryside. 2019 was a special year Martina Hingis. She became a mother. It will be interesting to see if her daughter develops a passion for tennis or equestrian sports.
Now Martina Hingis has built her own small, attractive horse stable in the beautiful spa town of Bad Ragaz in front of a fantastic Alpine backdrop. Six spacious paddock stalls now house her horses. The horse stalls have half-open fronts. In this way the horses have the social contacts that are also so important for herd animals in stables. The riding facility was rounded off with a riding arena. The 29 x 50 metre riding arena was built by the experienced Swiss riding arena expert Parkway.
Flurin Cadalbert, Managing Director of Röwer & Rüb Schweiz GmbH, accompanied the project. The horse stables were made at the works in Thedinghausen. However, due to the coronavirus it was not possible to send any fitters to Switzerland. A local timber construction company took on the installation work and did a very good job. As a result construction did not suffer any lengthy delays.
We would like to thank Ms Hingis for placing her trust and confidence in our work and wish her much pleasure and memorable moments at her new riding facility.
